The third annual ALS in the Heartland Community Walk was held April 19th at Chalco Hills Recreation Area. The Honorary Chairman was Senator Ben Nelson and Tom Becka was the Master of Ceremonies. The six mile walk route was lined with signs honoring current ALS patients and our "ALS Angels" who have lost their battle with ALS. There were many activities for attendees including a Bouncy Hut and Face Painting for kids and a cookout with food donated by Target and HyVee. Attendees also signed Advocacy Letters that will be sent to the Senate and the House of Representatives in an attempt to increase funding and research toward a cure for ALS. Entertainment was provided by the Pat O band. Over 450 people attended the Community Walk and over $22,000 was raised! |
